Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in your mouth and they commonly do not grow in properly, this can cause problems like teeth unalignment, infection, and destruction of the jawbone. Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common oral surgeries performed. Together, Dr. Miner and Dr. Weideman have over 18 years of experience extracting wisdom teeth.

Wisdom Teeth Procedure

Here at Oral Surgery of the Rockies, we take a careful approach to removing wisdom teeth. At our office, our goal is to make you feel comfortable before, during, and after the extraction procedure. Here is what you can expect for extractions:

  1. Oral Exam: We begin with an oral examination that evaluates the position of the wisdom teeth and allows Dr. Miner and Dr. Weidman to determine if there are any present or potential future problems.
  1. Extraction: In most cases, the removal of wisdom teeth is performed under  intravenous sedation. Our services are provided in an environment of optimum safety that utilizes modern monitoring equipment and staff that are experienced in anesthesia techniques. These options, as well as the surgical risks (i.e. sensory nerve damage, sinus complications), will be discussed with you before the procedure is performed. Once the teeth are removed, the gum is sutured. To help control bleeding, bite down on the gauze placed in your mouth.
  1. Post Treatment: Once the removal process is finished, you will rest under our supervision until you are ready to be taken home. We will provide you with a postoperative kit that includes postoperative care instructions, a prescription for pain medication, antibiotics, and a follow-up appointment for suture removal.

Our services are provided in an environment of optimum safety that utilizes modern monitoring equipment and staff who are experienced in anesthesia techniques.
